The Victorian Government has consolidated and streamlined grants programs in the Multicultural Affairs portfolio to better meet the needs of the community.

The pre-election commitment to provide a one-off $4,000 grant to the multicultural senior citizens associations, who are currently funded through the Multicultural Affairs portfolio, will be delivered through the upcoming State Budget and allocated from 1 July 2019. Associations will be contacted after the State Budget in May 2019.

Multicultural Festivals and Events Program
Applications are now closed for festivals, exhibitions, national day celebrations and other culturally significant gatherings taking place between 1 July 2019 and 31 December 2019.

The Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund (MCIF) is a new program that offers grants to culturally diverse communities across Victoria to support the building, upgrading and fitout of community infrastructure.

The Community Harmony Program is designed to enable Victorians to build social cohesion and community harmony through preventative initiatives that address the root causes of social disharmony and racial, ethnic and religious intolerance. Consolidates the grants programs formerly known as Promoting Community Harmony and Multifaith and Interfaith Initiatives.

The Capacity Building and Participation (CBP) Program aims to build the knowledge and skills of multicultural communities across Victoria to fully participate and contribute to everyday life in Victoria.
The program seeks to strengthen the participation, inclusion and contribution of high needs groups, including regional multicultural communities, refugees and asylum seekers, youth, women, seniors, and other diverse cohorts.

A new grants program promoting access and participation in sport for culturally diverse communities.
Applications for the program have now closed and are currently being reviewed.
Funding has also been made available for LGBTI communities and organisations through the Community Harmony Program 2016-17 and the Capacity Building and Participation Program 2016-17. These programs will support LGBTI communities and organisations to be more inclusive of people from culturally diverse backgrounds. For more information see the program flyer.
