Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria's leadership team will consist of a Coordinator General and will be supported by two Deputies, one of whom will be from regional Victoria.

Recruitment for the new Multicultural Coordinator General, two deputies and members of a Multicultural Community Advisory Group is underway.

The Coordinator General will be supported by two Deputies, one of whom will be from regional Victoria.

The Multicultural Community Advisory Group will be an independent group whose members will advise the Coordinator General and Deputies, and participate in community events, consultations, and government forums.

Advisory group members will represent diverse communities, faiths, occupations and locations. One member will be a dedicated youth representative.

Multicultural Coordinator General

The Multicultural Coordinator General will:

  • represent and promote the interests of multicultural and multifaith communities
  • advise government on how to best deliver government services, policies and grants
  • support communities' participation in the social, cultural, economic and political life of Victoria
  • consult widely with communities about their needs, experiences and priorities
  • support and provide advice on community safety planning activities in relation to multicultural and multifaith communities
  • coordinate whole-of-government reporting on departmental action plans to improve government services for multicultural and multifaith Victorians.

Louise Perry, Coordinator General (Interim)

Louise Perry is a highly accomplished executive and board director with more than 20 years’ leadership experience driving public policy and community engagement across the non-profit, international development, human rights and government sectors.

A graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors with a background in journalism at The Australian newspaper and a master’s in international development, she has successfully led large-scale organisations through complex structural mergers, notably as Deputy CEO of VicRoads and Executive Director at the Department of Transport.

A woman of Burmese heritage, Louise is driven by a personal and professional commitment to diversity and equity, which stems from lived experience growing up in a migrant family. Her recent career highlights include serving as Deputy Secretary for Fairer Victoria within the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, where she led landmark anti-racism, youth and gender equality strategies.

She has also held senior roles such as CEO of the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation and worked for nearly a decade in the international development human rights sector at Oxfam. Louise has four beautiful children.
