Cultural Diversity Week
Celebrate our Cultural Diversity Week is the Victoria’s largest event for the promotion of cultural, linguistic and religious diversity and community harmony.
Celebrate our Cultural Diversity Week is held annually between 17-23 March. The Week provides an opportunity for all Victorians to celebrate our cultural, linguistic and religious diversity. It also marks the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racism on 21 March and affirms our belief in the right for all Victorians to live without fear of racial and religious discrimination.
The theme of the Week is Different but the same. All Victorian to acknowledge that while Victorians speak many languages and observe different faiths and cultures, this diversity actually strengthens and unites us.
Celebrate our Cultural Diversity Week is a Victorian Government initiative coordinated by the Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC). All Victorians are encouraged to participate in the week’s events. In particular, Victorian school students, ethnic and faith community groups, local councils, multicultural service providers and the media.
Right across Victoria there will be events and activities for everyone to enjoy. So why not get your friends and family together to join in the fun. To find out how you can get involved in next year’s celebrations please contact the VMC.
