Victorian Interpreter Card
The Victorian Interpreter Card is a wallet-sized card that aims to help Victorians with limited English access government services by:
- helping them request interpreter assistance
- making it easier for staff to arrange language assistance in the correct language.
The card features the national Interpreter Symbol.
The Interpreter Symbol and Victorian Interpreter Card were officially launched 24 May 2006.
How to order Interpreter Card resources

The card comes attached to an information brochure available in 30 languages (including English).
Organisations wishing to distribute the card to their members or clients should contact us.

The following resources are available to support organisations using and promoting the Victorian Interpreter Card:
- Guide for services providers (PDF 269 kb) - an information brochure about the Victorian Interpreter Card for agency staff on what to do when clients present the card
- Information for card distributors (PDF 246 kb) - an information brochure for staff about how to distribute the Victorian Interpreter Card, including how to identify a person’s preferred language
- Interpreting and translating resource guide (PDF 129 kb) - an information sheet about interpreting and translating resources including key organisations, policy guidelines and websites
- Language List (PDF 2 mb) - a list of most (but not all) languages spoken in Victoria for which an interpreter may be required, to help identify the language spoken by a client.
- Victorian Interpreter Card multilingual poster (PDF 761 kb) - an A2 size poster for display at organisations distributing the Interpreter Card. Features 30 languages (including English).
