Cultural Diversity Week is held annually between 14-21 March. The Week provides an opportunity for all Victorians to celebrate our cultural, linguistic and religious diversity. It also marks the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racism on 21 March and affirms our belief in the right for all Victorians to live without fear of racial and religious discrimination.

more >Enhancing Cultural Precincts
The Victorian Government is investing $10 million over three years to boost the viability and vibrancy of three of Melbourne's vibrant and long standing cultural precincts. The three precincts - Little Bourke, Lonsdale and Lygon Streets - are the cultural hearts of Melbourne's Chinese, Greek and Italian communities and are known internationally as some of the city's most captivating and exciting precincts.

Victoria has a multifaceted approach to multicultural and multifaith diversity, based on encouraging greater understanding and dialogue between all cultural and religious groups. Under the Promoting Harmony Initiative, the Victorian Government has allocated a total of $6.1 million from 2006-2011 to strengthen and promote Victoria’s multifaith and multicultural diversity.

The Victorian Government recently committed $4.7 million to a Refugee Support Package to be implemented by the Department for Victorian Communities, through the Victorian Multicultural Commission partnership with the Department of Human Services.
