Cultural Precincts and Community Infrastructure Fund

The Cultural Precincts and Community Infrastructure Fund (CPCIF) is administered by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship (OMAC) in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The objectives of the CPCIF are to:

  • enable Victoria’s cultural precincts to remain sustainable and attractive for investment, and cultural and tourism activities; and
  • promote greater use and access to community-owned facilities by Victoria’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities, to enable increased participation in activities and access to services.

This initiative builds on the success of the $10 million Cultural Precincts Enhancement Fund, which revitalised cultural precincts of the Greek, Italian and Chinese communities in Melbourne's Bourke, Lonsdale and Lygon Streets.

What funding is available?

The 2013 round of the CPCIF is now open. Small Capital Infrastructure Grants range from $20,000 to $100,000 per grant, with a minimum dollar for dollar matched funding requirement.

Further rounds of CPCIF grants beyond 2013 are not planned at this stage.

For information on community infrastructure grants under $20,000 with no matched funding requirement, see the Buildings and Facilities Improvement Grants.

Who can apply?

Only not-for-profit community organisations representing culturally and linguistically diverse communities will be eligible to apply under the 2013 Small Capital Infrastructure Grant.

What type of projects might be funded?

The 2013 Small Capital Infrastructure Grants are available for minor works to existing community facilities owned by not-for-profit community organisations representing culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Examples of projects previously funded under the Small Grants category include the upgrade of a community kitchen, office space, toilets or the extension to an existing facility to provide additional community space.

For further examples, see the list of Small Grant projects funded under the CPCIF round 2012.

Application process

Applications for the Small Capital Infrastructure Grants 2013 are now open and close at 4pm on Friday 28 June 2013.
