The Victorian Government has consolidated and streamlined grants programs in the Multicultural Affairs portfolio to better meet the needs of the community.

Grants Programs Now Open - application dates have been extended

  • Capacity Building and Participation Program 2016-17: consolidates the grants programs formerly known as Strengthening Multicultural CommunitiesOrganisational Support GrantsMulticultural Seniors Organisational Support GrantsCommunity Language Schools Program GrantsRefugee Action Program and Asylum Seeker Support Program

  • Multicultural Festivals and Events 2016-17: incorporates the former Unity Through Partnerships program.  
    Please note there will be one grant round only. Your organisation will need to submit one application for each event occurring over the next 12 month period

  • Community Infrastructure and Cultural Precincts Program: consolidates the grants programs formerly known as Building and Facilities Improvement Grants and Multicultural Community Infrastructure Fund.

Funding will also be made available for LGBTI communities and organisations through the Community Harmony Program 2016-17 and the Capacity Building and Participation Program 2016-17.  These programs will  support LGBTI communities and organisations to be more inclusive of people from culturally diverse backgrounds.  For more information see the program flyer.


Information session

We will be holding an Information session on Friday, 8 April 2016 at 10.00am on how to address the assessment criteria for each of the Grant Programs that are currently open.  The session will provide practical examples of how to address the criteria and answer any general questions you may have for each of the four programs.  Should you wish to attend, please rsvp via email to: community.grants@dpc.vic.gov.au.

Recent Grants Programs


Applications for the Multicultural Festivals and Events 2015-16 Round 2 program for events being held between January and June 2016, have now closed. 

Assessments of applications for events held between January – March 2016 have been prioritised and announcements have been made. 

Applications for events held between 1 April 2016 – 30 June 2016 can expect announcements to be made in the coming weeks. 

Applications for Multicultural Senior Citizens Organisational Support Grants 2016-19 and Multicultural Media Grant 2015-16 are now closed and announcements have been made. 

Senior Citizens Organisations seeking future funding for organisational support can apply for a small grant under the new Capacity Building and Participation Program 2016-17 which opened on Tuesday 15 March 2016.
